"How do people meet what is beautiful in this world? In the late 1950s this theme engaged me in a number of prints. I had seen the beautiful met with anger, boredom, gush, envy, fear, competitively, patronizingly, possessively, timidly. I wanted to give form to what I had seen and felt myself.
